Rosenberg Special Operations Staff

Rosenberg Special Operations Staff
(Einsatzstab Rosenberg)
The first German agency in the Netherlands to engage in the confiscation of Jewish property. Adolf Hitler authorized the agency to confiscate any item that it believed was vital to Germany. The operation was headed by Alfred Rosenberg, Reich minister for the eastern territories. Property, such as furniture, was confiscated from deported Dutch Jews and redistributed to the resettled Germans in the occupied eastern territories. In 1941 alone, the Germans shipped from the Netherlands to the east the contents of 17,235 apartments, totaling 16,941,249 cubic feet of furniture. Rosenberg’s “enterprise,” however, was independent of the Aryanization process, which reached its peak of confiscated Jewish property in 1942.
